O que dizem as fontes ucranianas
Ukrainian coverage emphasizes the scale and regional distribution of the damage, the status of the affected monuments, repeated attacks, the methodology used to compile the statistics and the urgent need to protect sites before winter. Reporting also highlights the Ukrainian Cultural Heritage Fund, established under a memorandum signed in September 2025 to coordinate and manage international financial assistance for preserving and restoring the country’s heritage. The first restoration grant went to the Mystetskyi Arsenal, damaged by a Russian attack in Kyiv in June 2026, while the fund also provided UAH 1.55 million in emergency assistance to the Ukrainian House following the May 24, 2026 attack.
O que dizem as fontes internacionais
International pledges reported for the Ukrainian Cultural Heritage Fund include EUR 1.3 million from Denmark, EUR 1 million from the Netherlands, EUR 500,000 from Poland and GBP 200,000 from the United Kingdom. UNESCO keeps three Ukrainian properties on the List of World Heritage Properties under threat because of the direct danger posed by Russian aggression: the Saint Sophia Cathedral, related monastic buildings and Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra; the Historic Centre of Lviv; and the Historic Centre of Odesa.
Contexto
The Ministry of Culture compiles the figures using information from regional and Kyiv city military administrations, subordinate cultural institutions and other central executive agencies. The statistics cover both new damage and previously uncounted incidents reported later. Because almost all of Luhansk Oblast and substantial parts of Zaporizhzhia, Donetsk and Kherson Oblasts are temporarily occupied, the full extent of the losses on occupied territory cannot be accurately determined. The Ukrainian Cultural Heritage Fund was established under a September 2025 memorandum to coordinate and manage international financial assistance for the preservation and restoration of Ukrainian cultural heritage.
